Job summary

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team of engineers focused on MLOps/Analytics. You will review code, mentor engineers, and drive an engineering roadmap with product managers and architects.

The role emphasizes open source practices, collaboration with a global community, and strong leadership to unblock the team. You will work in a globally remote environment, collaborating with peers and attending conferences to represent Canonical.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of professional software delivery.
• Professional Python development experience, preferably open source.
• Understanding of the machine learning space and its challenges.
• Experience designing and implementing MLOps solutions.
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Responsibilities

• Manage a distributed team of engineers and its MLOps/Analytics portfolio.
• Organize and lead the team’s processes to help it achieve objectives.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings with team members.
• Identify and measure team health indicators.
• Interact with a vibrant community and attend conferences to represent Canonical.
• Review code produced by other engineers and provide architectural leadership.
• Mentor and grow direct reports to help them achieve goals.
