Job summary

Canonical is hiring an Engineering Manager for Sustaining Engineering to lead a globally distributed team focused on open source software across the Linux stack. You will mentor engineers, influence culture, and drive delivery of fixes and enhancements for Ubuntu and related projects.

You will work with teams across OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, Juju and MAAS, advocating modern software practices while enabling a healthy engineering culture and strong customer focus.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering software across complex stacks (kernel to user space).
• Proven leadership of distributed engineering teams.
• Strong testing and code quality discipline.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead a distributed team of engineers and grow their capabilities.
• Hire, coach, and provide career development guidance.
• Drive timely delivery of bug fixes and patches across diverse tech fields (Ubuntu, OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, Juju, MAAS).
• Set expectations with other teams and stakeholders and advocate modern software practices.
