Ladders is seeking an Engineering Manager for Active Sensors (LiDAR) to guide a team focused on advancing perception capabilities for autonomous vehicle systems. The role combines people leadership with deep machine learning and robotics expertise to improve detection and robustness in real-world conditions. Location: Remote - US-based candidates only.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years leading engineering teams.
• Production ML systems for autonomous driving or robotics.
• Strong Python and PyTorch background; C++ production experience.
• Experience with lidar perception systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of ML and software engineers for performance management and career growth.
• Set technical direction and roadmap for active-sensor perception aligned with vehicle-level milestones.
• Oversee multitask models for object and road detection using LiDAR and radar data.
• Guide architectural decisions involving sensor fusion and task-specific representations.
• Ensure improvements in one task do not negatively impact others or overall system behavior.
• Define strategies for maintaining perception performance under adverse conditions and sensor failures.
• Drive the machine learning lifecycle from data requirements to model monitoring.
