Job summary

Ladders is seeking an Engineering Manager, Orchestration (Remote) to join a leading Enterprise Technology team. You will lead a founding engineering group building the orchestration layer powering event-driven, real-time decisioning at scale, partnering with senior stakeholders to shape architecture, deliver milestones, and ensure the platform is reliable, observable, and operationally strong.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a management role.
• Player-coach leadership style, balancing technical guidance with hands-on contributions
• Expertise in designing and operating large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Strong systems thinking with a focus on event-driven, stateful, real-time decisioning
• Experience with backend services in a cloud environment, specifically Google Cloud Platform
• Proficient in microservice architectures and inter-service communication patterns
• Strong foundation in Python; familiarity with Elixir is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a founding team of engineers supporting the orchestration platform
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define architecture and project milestones
• Drive initiatives from concept to delivery while ensuring high-quality outputs
• Oversee development of a scalable, event-driven messaging system
• Provide technical leadership on complex distributed decisioning challenges
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the orchestration layer
• Ensure operational excellence through observability and incident response practices
