United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Engineering Manager / Java Architect for a remote, 12+ month engagement. The role blends architecture, leadership, and hands‑on development across Java/Spring Boot and React with a focus on code quality and scalable systems.

You will lead a senior team, drive standards, and collaborate with data engineering while leveraging AI coding tools in line with policy. Healthcare domain experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of senior‑level software engineering with Spring Boot (Java) and React; React Native experience required.
• Prior experience leading or managing full‑stack engineering teams.
• Deep experience using code reviews as a teaching and quality mechanism.
• Working knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL to collaborate with database specialists.
• Comfort operating in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar).
• Active, thoughtful use of AI coding tools with governance across a team.
• Cloud and DevOps fluency on Azure (AKS, Azure DevOps, Log Analytics).
• Backend: Java 11+, Spring Boot (Data, MVC, Security).
• Frontend: React (or Angular 12+), state management, responsive design.
• Database: Advanced PL/SQL (procedures, functions, performance tuning).
• Tooling: Git, Maven/Gradle, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
• Experience in healthcare domain.

Responsibilities

• Define, document, and enforce coding standards across Java Spring Boot, React, and React Native.
• Run day‑to‑day delivery cadence for a team of engineers, ensuring work is scoped and prioritized.
• Spend ~30% of time writing production code on high‑leverage areas.
• Pair with engineers on architectural decisions; influence should be visible in codebase.
• Model responsible AI tool usage (Copilot, Claude) per enterprise policy.
• Collaborate with data engineering on application‑to‑data integration and review PL/SQL patterns.
• Proactively surface risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs early.
