Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Caption/Subtitle Translator for a fully remote role. You will translate captions/subtitles, perform MTPE, and handle transcreation while maintaining linguistic quality.

The ideal candidate has a minimum four years in translation, fluency in two languages, and strong editing and cultural localization skills. Collaboration with a project team and reporting to the project manager are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications or linguistics.
• Minimum four years experience in translation.
• Proficiency with translation management software.
• Knowledge of localization techniques and terminologies.
• Familiarity with localization guidelines and standards.
• Ability to translate written content accurately, and meeting deadlines.
• Fluency in at least two target languages.
• MTPE and cross-cultural translation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate captions, subtitles, documents, websites, and software.
• Fix MTPE issues and ensure cultural accuracy.
• Constrain translations within word limits without losing meaning.
• Maintain translation database using TMS.
• Provide QA for translation processes.
• Work with media and translation software across projects.
• Resolve localization and cultural issues.
• Coordinate with other departments for translation services.
• Implement feedback and changes where possible.
