Job summary

Macmillan Publishers is seeking an experienced Employment Law Paralegal to support internal employment matters, compliance, and litigation management. You will partner with in-house counsel, HR, and business leaders to manage workplace legal risk and maintain cross-jurisdictional compliance.

The role emphasizes drafting, policy updates, and handling subpoenas, investigations, and contractor classifications, with a remote arrangement tied to the New York office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from ABA-approved program preferred.
• 4–6 years paralegal experience specializing in employment law.
• Knowledge of federal/state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA).
• Proficiency with legal research databases (Westlaw/LexisNexis) and document management systems.
• High discretion and sound judgment handling confidential employee matters.
• Excellent written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Policy drafting, updating, and reviewing handbooks and multi-state employment policies to ensure compliance.
• Draft and track employment agreements and severance/release agreements in compliance with law.
• Manage subpoenas, records requests, and agency inquiries; coordinate document collection and redaction.
• Assist with employment claims and EEOC/state charges; manage litigation holds and e-discovery collection.
• Assist in workplace investigations; coordinate interviews and compile reports.
