Job summary

Crane NXT, via CPI, seeks a Manager of Embedded Software Development to lead the embedded software and firmware teams driving the heart of CPI’s intelligent products from Malvern, PA and distributed sites in Germany. The role blends people leadership with deep technical depth in embedded systems to coordinate across software, electronics, mechanical systems, test and product engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Typically 8+ years of professional embedded software or firmware development experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong experience developing software for embedded products.
• Proficient in C and/or C++ in resource-constrained embedded environments.
• Experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors and embedded hardware architectures.
• Practical understanding of real-time systems with RTOS-based software.
• Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces and device drivers.
• Ability to read electronic schematics and collaborate with hardware engineers.
• Experience troubleshooting complex hardware/software interactions with embedded tools.
• Knowledge of embedded software architecture, version control, build automation and testing.
• Experience delivering embedded software through complete product lifecycles.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop software engineers.
• Experience working with geographically distributed engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a geographically distributed team of embedded software engineers in the United States and Germany.
• Translate product and system requirements into executable embedded software development plans and commitments.
• Provide technical leadership for embedded software architecture, design, integration and verification.
• Ensure collaboration between embedded software, hardware, systems engineering, test and product management.
• Manage development across new products, enhancements, customer requirements and sustaining engineering.
