Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Architect to embed with client leaders and design AI-native architectures that move from pilot to production. You will own trade-offs, risk, and evidence for autonomy, guardrails, and costing while collaborating with business and engineering stakeholders.

Travel to client sites is expected, with on-site engagement at scale. The role emphasizes ownership, architecture leadership, and delivering production-grade AI systems in complex enterprise

Qualifications

• Experience taking AI-native systems to production at a client or customer.
• Proven, architect-level responsibility in related roles.
• Ability to frame problems for non-technologists and present options with costs/risks.
• Delivery accountability for shipped systems and architectures.
• Deep knowledge of integration, distributed systems, cloud, and data-flow at enterprise scale.
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and shifting requirements.
• Ability to write ADRs and design documents to preserve decisions.
• Hands-on coding ability to prototype and maintain constraints.
• Willingness to be on-site with clients and travel.

Responsibilities

• Embed with client accounts, working with business owners, product leaders, and engineering teams to move AI from pilot to production.
• Design end-to-end AI-native architectures including orchestration, retrieval, and integration with systems of record.
• Own three measurable artifacts: capability economics model, trust-rung evidence for agents, and a knowledge-graph slice of the client domain.
• Turn conflicting requirements into explicit business decisions with named owners.
• Decide per component/risk how much can be delegated to AI and when humans stay in the loop.
• Define evaluation criteria for assistants/agents to prove business fit, not just fluency.
• Build proofs of concept and reference implementations when needed.
• Share learnings with EPAM's AI architecture practice to improve patterns and references.
