Job summary

The City of Longmont is seeking a Utilities Operations & Maintenance Manager to plan, organize, and oversee the 24/7 water and wastewater systems. This role serves as the Operator in Responsible Charge and collaborates with engineering and public works to align staff and resources with regulatory requirements.

The candidate will lead maintenance programs, drive process improvements, and ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Water Quality Technology, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible management experience in utility operation activities.
• Possession of Water Distribution Class IV Certificate and Wastewater Collection Class IV Certificate or ability to obtain within two years; Valid Colorado Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and manage the operation and maintenance of City’s raw water conveyance, potable water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Develop utility operations plans focusing on regulatory compliance, procedures, staffing and emergency readiness.
• Identify technologies to modernize operations and investigate methods to incorporate into O&M activities.
• Oversee and coordinate personnel, equipment, and projects; ensure safety rules and City policies are followed.
