Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Department of American Studies seeks a Marketing and Administrative Support intern for the 2026-2027 academic year. Earn while you learn via the Federal Work-Study program, with structured workshops through Canvas and career support from your supervisor.

Core duties include updating content, marketing events, drafting newsletters, and supporting departmental events. The role offers 1-10 hours per week, some remote tasks, and a campus presence in Wilson Hall.

Qualifications

• Federal work study eligibility required.
• Current UVA undergraduate student.
• Proficiency with Canva, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite including OneDrive and Excel.
• Experience generating written content for public audiences is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage departmental bulletin board with up-to-date information on events.
• Review AMST website and refresh content as needed.
• Market events via flyers digitally and across Grounds.
• Draft and revise the American Studies newsletter.
• Assist in planning/exec events such as end-of-year celebration and graduation (May 2027).
• Provide office administrative support and manage supplies.
