Job summary

Virginia Tech seeks an End User Support and Lab Operations Specialist to provide front-line IT support for the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design labs and for faculty, staff, and students. The role blends end-user troubleshooting with hands-on lab hardware/software deployment and maintenance, following Intune and Jamf workflows as needed.

The position collaborates with the lab operations lead to set priorities, maintain documentation, and expand lab environments.

Qualifications

Experience providing technical support to end users via in-person, phone, email, or tickets.
Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Experience installing and troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripherals.
Ability to manage multiple issues and prioritize by urgency and impact.
Strong interpersonal, customer service, verbal and technical writing skills.
Ability to work independently and coordinate with other technical staff.

Responsibilities

Provide front-line technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
Perform hands-on lab computer deployment, software installation, and maintenance.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
Document processes and maintain lab readiness.
Coordinate with lab operations lead on priorities and refresh plans.
