Job summary

Leidos seeks Distribution Engineers & Designers to tackle electric utility design challenges, working with clients to ensure high-quality outcomes. You’ll gain expertise in NESC, structural pole modeling, electrical power calculations, GIS design training, and field data collection.

The role supports remote work but prefers candidates within commuting distance of Allentown, PA, with travel as needed and a valid US driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant distribution engineering or design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial engineering preferred.
• Experience with distribution projects from kickoff through design and customer interaction.
• Valid U.S. driver's license; ability to travel as needed.
• Willingness to perform field and office work; outdoor environments acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform structural analysis, conductor sags, tensions, and voltage drop calculations.
• Provide support during construction and post-construction reviews for standards compliance.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles.
