Job summary

Ramsey County is seeking a Data Practices Officer to design and implement policies ensuring compliance with Minnesota data practices laws.

The role leads training, guides on FOIA and privacy, manages complex data requests across departments, and serves as SME for data practices systems. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and at least four years of professional data practices experience. The position supports a hybrid work model with on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree as specified in the Education section.
• Four years of professional experience in data practices.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and related rules.
• Provide guidance on the application of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and related rules.
• Manage and facilitate the processing of complex, sensitive, and cross-departmental data requests with departments, county leadership, County Attorney's Office, Communications and Public Relations Office, and other stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain and train departments on data practices, request requirements, and annual countywide training.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the data practices management systems and tools.
• Assist with project management support in planning countywide initiatives and projects to establish and achieve countywide objectives.
