Job summary

Prince William County’s Department of Development Services is seeking an Architectural Plan Reviewer to perform technical plan reviews for compliance with the International Building Code and county policies. The role emphasizes customer service and resolving complex technical problems for designers, contractors, and owners.

This telework-eligible position operates on a standard Monday-Friday 37.5-hour schedule; remote work is possible after probation, with potential in-office scheduling if

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 5 years of related experience (plan review, inspections, or code enforcement).
• Preference for 5 years progressively responsible in building plan review, inspections, or code enforcement.
• Experience with commercial buildings and reviewing plans for code compliance.
• Experience using building plans during design, plan review, construction and/or inspection of commercial projects.
• Familiarity with IBC and IEBC codes and working with the public in local government.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical architectural plan reviews to ensure compliance with the International Building Code, County Policies, and Industry Standards.
• Provide superior customer service by assisting Designers, Contractors, and Owners with resolving difficult technical problems by providing code compliant solutions.
• Serve as a member on Department/Division Process Action Teams.
