Job summary

Chinook Systems is seeking an Architectural Plan Reviewer and Code Inspector for our government-aligned team in a hybrid Arlington, VA setting. You will conduct code enforcement reviews, plan reviews, and inspections to ensure architectural and accessibility compliance on multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in architecture or architectural engineering from an NAAB/ABET-accredited school.
• At least 10 years' experience with IBC and ADA/ABA accessibility standards.
• 5+ years' experience managing people and project teams.
• Extensive experience in architectural plan reviews and accessibility reviews.
• Strong knowledge of ICC I-codes, NFPA, ABA, ASHRAE, ASME and ANSI standards.
• Proven client-satisfaction track record in critical facilities and aging campuses.
• Proficiency with construction PM software and mobile devices.
• Must be able to travel to client sites and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct code enforcement reviews, inspections, and plan reviews for architectural and accessibility compliance.
• Review feasibility and code compliance, provide comments, and ensure sustainability and reliability.
• Address violations, disputes, and maintain records of actions and code references.
• Prepare detailed reports of observations with associated code references.
• Interpret and enforce construction codes for clients, contractors, architects, and engineers.
• Perform pre-construction site walks to identify issues and document findings.
• Review as-built/redline documents to verify changes and accuracy.
• Support code development and provide technical advice for compliance.
• Witness code compliance tests and document non-compliance issues during testing.
• Provide design support and assist accessibility task forces as directed by the government BCO.
