Job summary

Chinook Systems Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking an Architectural Plan Reviewer and Code Inspector for a government-aligned team.

The role focuses on code enforcement reviews and inspections across multiple concurrent projects, with a hybrid schedule in Arlington and client-site visits. The candidate will interpret and enforce IBC, ADA/ABA standards, and related codes, lead plan reviews, and provide technical guidance to ensure compliant building projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in architecture or architectural engineering from NAAB or ABET-accredited university.
At least 10 years of experience with the International Building Code and the ADA/ABA accessibility standards.
At least 5 years of experience managing people.
Extensive experience conducting architectural plans reviews, including accessibility-related reviews.
Proficiency with construction project management software and mobile devices.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, PowerPoint).
Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and ability to travel to various work sites.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive code enforcement reviews, inspections, and plan reviews for architectural and accessibility compliance.
Review construction feasibility and code compliance, provide comments, and ensure sustainability and reliability.
Address complaints, violations, disputes, and maintain accurate records of code violations and actions taken.
Document deficiencies and prepare detailed reports with code references.
Maintain records of observed deficiencies and provide weekly status briefings.
Interpret and enforce provisions of construction codes to clients, contractors, architects, and engineers.
