Job summary

Chinook Systems is seeking an Architectural Plan Reviewer and Code Inspector for our government-aligned team in Arlington, VA. The role covers code enforcement reviews, plan reviews, and site inspections across concurrent projects.

You will work a hybrid schedule with an Arlington office presence and travel to client sites as needed, supporting accessibility and building code compliance for government construction projects. Salary ranges reflect qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or architectural engineering from a NAAB- or ABET-accredited program with at least 10 years of experience with the International Building Code and ADA/ABA accessibility standards.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing people.
• Extensive experience conducting architectural plans reviews, including accessibility-related reviews.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICC I-codes, NFPA, ABA Accessibility Standards, ASHRAE, ASME, and ANSI standards.
• Track record of client satisfaction in mission-critical facilities and experience upgrading integrated systems in aging campuses.
• Proficient with construction project management software and mobile devices; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive code enforcement reviews, inspections, and plan reviews for architectural and accessibility compliance.
• Review construction feasibility and code compliance, provide comments, and ensure sustainability and reliability.
• Address complaints, violations, disputes, and maintain records of code violations and actions taken.
• Document deficiencies and prepare detailed reports with code references.
• Maintain records of observed deficiencies and actions and provide weekly briefings.
• Explain and enforce provisions of construction codes to clients, contractors, architects, and engineers.
• Perform pre-construction site walks to identify issues and document findings.
• Review as-built/redline documents to verify changes and accuracy.
• Assist in code development and implementation and provide technical advice.
• Witness and document code compliance tests and record non-compliance.
• Provide design support and accessibility issue investigations under the Building Code Official.
