Job summary

Clarios is seeking an Electronics Functional Safety Engineer to lead FuSa analyses and define hardware safety requirements for the BMS in next-generation lithium‑ion batteries. You will contribute to developing best-in-class electronic battery controls within the Advanced Battery Core Electronics Team, reporting to the Global Electronics Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years of professional experience in electronics FuSa
• Formal training in ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineering
• Hands-on experience deriving Functional Safety work products per ISO 26262
• Experience or training in safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, Fault-Tree, Common mode analysis)
• Experience in ASPICE
• Experience with tools like JAMA, JIRA, GitHub, Cameo System Modeler, Medini Analyse/Reliability Workbench
• Experience in SYSML and MBSE
• Experience in Li-Ion Battery System
• Proficiency in electronics schematic, layout, and simulation tools (Altium)
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Experience in taking electronic safety architectures from concept to production

Responsibilities

• Execute FuSa analyses, requirements, design and V&V
• Perform safety analyses (FTA, FMEA, HARA)
• Define hardware requirements and specifications
• Define hardware V&V plans and methods
• Implement hardware safety design best practices
• Develop Functional Safety aspects of hardware DVP&R (System V&V)
• Support verification reviews and prepare reports
• Define hardware safety specifications and prepare technical reports
• Collaborate with Systems Safety Team on safety requirements
• Perform ASIL decomposition and common cause analysis
• Create Hardware Safety requirements per ISO 26262 Part 5
• Develop BMS safety concept and support design teams under ISO 26262 Parts 5 and 6
• Perform qualitative and quantitative safety analyses
• Conduct hardware verification and confirmation reviews
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver a successful product
• Meet program timing and budget constraints
• Lead in cross-functional teams with minimal supervision
