Job summary

American Battery Solutions is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to lead ISO 26262 safety activities for high‑voltage battery systems. You will own safety deliverables, guide analyses, and ensure traceability from concept through production in collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.

The role requires deep Functional Safety expertise, system architecture knowledge, and the ability to drive evidence collection for assessments and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in engineering for automotive or heavy‑duty electrical systems.
• 5+ years applying ISO 26262 on production programs.
• Expert knowledge of ISO 26262 and automotive architectures.
• Experience with Functional Safety analyses and work products.

Responsibilities

• Act as owner for Functional Safety work products from concept to production.
• Develop and maintain HARA, safety goals, and ASIL classifications.
• Define safety requirements and ensure bidirectional traceability.
• Perform SPFM, LFM, PMHF analyses and evaluate safety mechanisms.
• Create FSC/TSC, FMEDA, and safety validation plans.
• Provide guidance and mentorship on Functional Safety processes.
