Job summary

ArchKey Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop permit drawings and construction documents for diverse projects, bridging field electricians, project managers, and BIM teams.

You will perform electrical studies, code compliance reviews, and lead small to mid-size projects while mentoring others and staying current with NEC and energy codes.

This role offers hands-on field exposure, remote-friendly options, and a path toward professional licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• EIT/EI certification or PE license; ability to sit for the Electrical PE exam within 12 years if not yet licensed.
• 35 years of experience in electrical facilities power design, including lighting and receptacle layouts, circuiting and panelboard schedules, and load calculations and equipment sizing.
• Experience in healthcare, heavy industrial, and/or data center projects is highly desirable. Controls experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Revit, Autodesk tools, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience performing engineering studies using SKM or ETAP is a plus.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related building codes.
• Strong desire to learn and grow within the electrical construction industry, with a commitment to teamwork and dependability.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of organization and accuracy.
• Demonstrated strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proven problem‑solving ability, sound judgment, customer service orientation, and effective time management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills with a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Develops and prepares detailed electrical engineering permit drawings and construction installation documents to support field execution.
• Develops conceptual designs, sketches, and value engineering ideas to support project managers and estimators during planning and preconstruction.
• Prepares electrical calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation throughout all phases of construction.
• Under the supervision of a professionally licensed electrical engineer, develops, reviews, and validates engineering studies including arc flash, short circuit, overcurrent protective device coordination (OCPD), duct bank ampacity, load, lighting, and power factor correction.
• Coordinates with vendors and reviews shop drawings to model accurate, fully constructible electrical systems, including equipment, conduit, and cable tray within Revit.
• Participates in electrical construction and design-related training.
• Adheres to company engineering standards and maintains strict QA/QC procedures for all deliverables.
• Recommends improvements to design standards, workflows, and procedures. Responds to design questions, resolve issues, and issue plan revisions as required.
