About the Position
The Electrical Engineer develops and prepares high‑quality electrical engineering permit drawings and construction documents, working closely with field electricians, project managers, designers, and VDC/BIM teams. This role includes review of outside engineering documents, value engineering, and conducting engineering studies such as arc flash, short circuit, duct bank ampacity, power factor correction, and lighting. The position provides field exposure and requires professional licensure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering permit drawings and installation documents.
- Develop conceptual designs, sketches, and value‑engineering ideas during preconstruction.
- Prepare electrical calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
- Under the supervision of a licensed electrical engineer, review and validate engineering studies.
- Coordinate with vendors and review shop drawings for construction of electrical systems.
- Participate in construction and design‑related training.
- Adhere to engineering standards and maintain QA/QC procedures.
- Respond to design questions, resolve issues, and issue plan revisions.
- Stay current with codes, materials, technologies, and best practices.
- Lead small to mid‑size projects and provide technical guidance to designers and engineers.
- Apply local building energy codes and advise on compliance.
- Build relationships with customers, project teams, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Support the design team while upholding core values.
- Make decisions safely to protect health and safety.
- Utilize lean concepts to maximize efficiency.
- Promote values through ethical practices and DEI.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET‑accredited).
- EIT/EI certification or PE license; ability to sit for the PE exam within 1–2 years if not yet licensed.
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical facilities power design, including lighting, receptacle layouts, circuiting, panelboard schedules, load calculations, and equipment sizing.
- Experience in healthcare, heavy industrial, or data center projects is highly desirable; controls experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Revit, Autodesk tools, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience performing engineering studies using SKM or ETAP is a plus.
- Working knowledge of the NEC and related building codes.

Work Schedule
- Days and hours: Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and travel.
Compensation
- Salary: $111,000 – $133,200 annually, based on experience.
