Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking an Editorial Production Assistant to meticulously proofread a large state labor law reference guide and an HR quick reference guide. The role requires sharp eyes for grammar, AP style and typography, with rapid 24-48 hour turnarounds in October and November, while staying compliant with California employment law terms.

The position is fully remote, but candidates must reside in California.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in editing or editorial workflows.
• Experience level: Experienced.
• High School (required).

Responsibilities

• Proofreading PDF versions of the books for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and formatting consistency.
• Ensuring adherence to internal house style and AP Style.
• Marking queries clearly for legal writers and editorial staff.
• Reviewing materials without compromising legal precision.
• Reviewing PDFs to catch widow/orphan lines, bad breaks and typography issues.
• Other tasks as needed for the project.
