Cognizant is seeking an Emergency Department Coder (Facility & Pro-Fee) to review clinical documentation and assign diagnoses and procedures for ED encounters, outpatient surgery, observation, and diagnostics. This remote role requires expertise in ED coding, injections, infusions, E/M levels, and reliance on Epic and encoder tools to ensure compliant charges.

You will work independently within a team, query physicians as needed, maintain 98% accuracy, and meet productivity standards while

Qualifications

• Active CCS, CPC, or equivalent coding credential
• Experience coding emergency department encounters
• Experience assigning ED procedure codes, injections and infusions, EKGs
• Experience combining facility and provider (pro-fee) coding on one ED encounter
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and regulatory guidelines
• Proven ability to maintain 98% coding accuracy
• Epic experience highly preferred

Responsabilités

• Review clinical documentation to assign diagnoses and procedures for ED, outpatient surgery, observation, and diagnostics
• Assign ED facility and provider (pro-fee) codes and charges, including E/M levels
• Code ED procedures including surgical CPT codes, injections/infusions, and EKGs
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses/procedures
• Use Epic and encoder tools per policy and regulatory guidelines
• Maintain 98% accuracy while meeting productivity standards
• Coordinate with manager and team on time off and new procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
