Job summary

King’s Insurance Staffing, partnering with a well-established A+ rated specialty insurer, seeks an experienced E&S Property Underwriter to support expansion of its contract-binding portfolio. This role offers remote work and the chance to influence coverage terms, pricing, and agency growth.

You will underwrite higher-hazard E&S property and contribute to product development, portfolio strategy, and collaboration with brokers and binding-authority partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial property underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting E&S, specialty, higher-hazard, or difficult-to-place property risks.
• Strong risk-selection, pricing, and portfolio-management capabilities.
• Experience working with wholesale brokers, MGAs, or binding-authority programs.
• Coastal and catastrophe-exposed property experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound underwriting judgment.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• CPCU, ASLI, or another relevant insurance designation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, price, and negotiate E&S commercial property risks.
• Determine appropriate coverage, limits, deductibles, terms, and conditions.
• Review loss history, catastrophe exposure, valuation data, inspection reports, and other underwriting information.
• Build productive relationships with wholesale brokers and binding-authority partners.
• Monitor portfolio performance, rate adequacy, aggregation, and overall profitability.
• Identify market opportunities and help refine underwriting appetite.
• Contribute to the development of coverage forms, rating approaches, and underwriting guidelines.
• Partner with actuarial, loss control, product, and other underwriting teams.
• Provide responsive service and participate in producer meetings as needed.
• Track market conditions, competitive developments, and emerging property trends.
