Job summary

Atain Insurance is seeking an experienced Commercial Property Underwriter to join our E&S underwriting team in a hybrid role based in the United States. The role emphasizes strong analytical skills, relationship-building with wholesale brokers, and sound risk decisions in the commercial property E&S market.

With a minimum 5 years in excess and surplus lines underwriting, you will manage a profitable book, assess CAT-related exposures, and negotiate terms with brokers while maintaining

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial excess and surplus lines property underwriting experience.
• Solid understanding of property coverage forms, risk assessment tools, and underwriting methodologies.
• Experience with catastrophe-exposed business; familiarity with CAT modeling.
• Track record of managing a profitable book of business.
• Ability to travel 10-15%.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with broker relationship management.
• Bachelor’s degree; CPCU/AU/ASLI are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, analyze, and underwrite diverse commercial property risks within authority levels, ensuring adherence to underwriting standards.
• Assess exposure, coverage requirements, risk characteristics, CAT model outputs, and financial data to develop pricing and terms.
• Maintain a profitable, diversified portfolio by monitoring performance and adjusting underwriting strategies.
• Identify opportunities for growth while maintaining underwriting discipline for long-term profitability.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with wholesale broker partners nationwide.
• Negotiate pricing, coverage, and terms with brokers for competitive yet profitable outcomes.
• Deliver prompt, high-quality service in a fast-paced environment, meeting service standards.
