Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks an Evaluation & Management Medical Coder to provide coding and auditing services for providers nationwide. You will translate clinical diagnoses into codes, educate provider offices, and audit claims to ensure proper coding.

The role requires telecommunication with physicians and staff and supports remote work within the U.S. The position is full-time with standard hours 8:00 AM–4:00 PM CST, with occasional overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification (CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS) with AHIMA and/or AAPC credentialing must be maintained annually.
• Medical coding or auditing experience in the past year.
• 2+ years of E&M medical coding experience.
• 2+ years interacting with physicians in a clinical setting.
• 2+ years of high-volume telephonic experience.
• 2+ years of EMR experience.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Educational outreach via phone and email to providers and staff.
• Provider outreach 80-90% to communicate program and coding guidelines.
• Audit outpatient claims to validate reported services and proper coding.
