Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer to design and package electrical distribution projects for utility clients. The role involves working with clients to ensure high-quality outcomes and performing calculations for overhead and underground systems.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and experience with NESC, Esri GIS, AutoCAD or MicroStation, plus strong communication skills. Willingness to travel and valid U.S. driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial fields.
• Experience with NESC Standards; GIS experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Willingness to travel using a personal vehicle; job-related travel reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, sag/tension, voltage drop, flicker).
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews.
• Conduct root cause analyses of outages and propose mitigations.
• Coordinate with utilities and develop large design packages in dense urban environments.
