Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Engineer to support electric utility projects in the Greater Kansas City area. This remote-friendly role requires residency within commuting distance to support local projects.

The team partners with Utility and Communication Companies on pole attachments and distribution design. You will develop and review distribution packages and contribute to proposals and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited college;Electrical preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or FE exam completed is a plus.
• Willing to obtain PE license.
• Experience or knowledge of electric utility distribution systems and standards.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and communicate project status clearly.
• Proficiency with MS Office, GIS, and distribution design software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare distribution voltage construction packages for overhead and underground projects.
• Assist with distribution line design from 2.4kV to 34kV.
• Create and modify drawings with Designers/Engineers.
• Assist in proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Provide technical support to clients and support regional growth.
• Perform QA/QC reviews and ensure compliance with standards.
• Evaluate equipment loading and ensure safe, cost-effective designs.
• Record field data and update software for design implementation.
