Job summary

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in Michigan who will design and develop work packages for electrical utility projects, using GIS tools like DDS, GDT, and Maximo. Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred).
• Experience directly with electric utility or electric utility consulting for design engineering.
• Knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
• Some knowledge of structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand & fault currents calculations.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers.
• Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS and WMS systems (DDS, GDT, GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, Maximo).
• Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work.
• Design tools such as Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc, DDS.
• Review engineering design packages with clients.
• Perform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-up.
• Perform scope analysis of work and maintain schedule adherence to client priorities.
• Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes for efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements for large packages in dense urban environments.
• Be comfortable in both field and office settings; expect some customer-site visits.
