Job summary

Symetra seeks a Head of Workforce Benefits Disability Claims to lead strategy and performance of disability claims, including short- and long-term disability and clinical services. This executive role emphasizes customer outcomes, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance.

You will drive end-to-end claims leadership, process improvements, and cross-functional partnerships across underwriting, clinical, legal, product, and technology, while building a high-performing team in a remote-first

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in group life, disability, absence management, and leave programs.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience leading leaders within claims organizations.
• P&L management experience for a division or department.
• Experience with Claim Vantage or Fineos is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end disability claims operations with focus on timely, accurate outcomes.
• Drive process improvements, automation, and innovation to enhance efficiency.
• Oversee liability management and monitor financial performance and costs.
• Develop and mentor a high-performing claims team and succession plans.
• Collaborate with underwriting, clinical, legal, product, technology, and operations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and governance.
