Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA strongly preferred as part of credentials.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a publicly traded insurance company or Big 4.
• Strong understanding of SEC reporting and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience in P&C insurance areas such as reinsurance, investments, reserves, acquisitions, and insurance accounting matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead the company’s SEC financial reporting process, including preparation and review of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and related filings.
• Oversee technical accounting research and conclusions for complex transactions.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and memoranda.
• Monitor FASB, SEC, PCAOB developments and impact on the organization.
• Partner with finance, legal, actuarial, investments, tax, treasury, and operations to evaluate accounting implications of new initiatives.
• Advise senior finance leadership on complex accounting matters.
• Coordinate with external auditors during SEC reporting and technical accounting processes.
• Evaluate new standards and lead implementation where appropriate.
• Support audit committee materials and presentations on financial reporting.
