Job summary

Chapman Management Group is seeking an experienced REMOTE Director of Accounting to lead our property accounting function and oversee financial reporting, controls, and processes across a multi-property portfolio. This fully remote leadership role requires guiding a team while digging into complex data and ensuring close collaboration with operations.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in progressive accounting, 3+ years supervising staff, and strong GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years leading or supervising an accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Experience managing accounting for multiple entities, business units, properties, or clients.
• Demonstrated ability to review financial statements and identify errors, trends, and unusual activity.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead effectively in a remote work environment.
• Comfortable operating in a growing organization where processes evolve.

Responsibilities

• Direct the monthly accounting close and financial reporting process across multiple property and ownership entities.
• Review property-level balance sheets, income statements, budget-to-actual reports, ledgers, and schedules for accuracy.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to policies and lender/regulatory requirements.
• Review reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany activity, and month-end entries.
• Identify unusual activity and drive resolution; maintain internal controls and policies.
