Job summary

Chapman Management Group is seeking a remote Director of Accounting to lead the property accounting function and oversee financial reporting, controls, and processes across a multi-property portfolio.

The role requires 8+ years of accounting experience, 3+ years of team leadership, and strong GAAP knowledge. You will collaborate with operations and executive leadership to ensure accurate data and scalable processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 8+ years progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years leading or supervising an accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Direct monthly accounting close and financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Review property-level statements, budgets vs. actuals, ledgers, and schedules.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to policies and lender/regulatory requirements.
• Review reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany activity.
• Identify unusual activity and drive resolutions; maintain controls and policies.
• Lead, coach, and develop a remote accounting team; set expectations and deadlines.
