Job summary

Chapman Management Group is seeking a REMOTE Director of Accounting to lead property accounting for a multi-property portfolio and oversee financial reporting, controls, and processes. The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, leadership, and the ability to work effectively in a remote, fast-growing organization.

You will manage the monthly close, ensure accuracy across property entities, and collaborate with operations and leadership to optimize financial performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years leading or supervising an accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Experience managing accounting for multiple entities, business units, properties, or clients.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead effectively in a remote work environment.
• Comfortable operating in a growing organization where processes continue to evolve.

Responsibilities

• Direct the monthly close and financial reporting across multiple property and ownership entities.
• Review property-level balance sheets, income statements, budget-to-actuals, ledgers, and schedules for accuracy.
• Ensure accounting is performed in accordance with GAAP, policies, and lender/regulatory requirements.
• Review reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany activity, and month-end entries.
• Identify unusual financial activity and drive resolutions while maintaining internal controls.
