Job summary

Bugumiro Foundation Uganda is seeking a Director of Development to lead a $1.5 million capital campaign and build the organization's long-term development program. You will report to the Founder and Executive Director, collaborating with the Board, and will work remotely with some travel, turning a strong donor base into a growing movement that sustains operations and expands impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fundraising/development experience, including major gifts and/or capital campaigns.
• A demonstrated record of securing significant philanthropic gifts.
• Experience developing and managing a donor pipeline.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience writing funding proposals and case for support statements.
• Confidence and experience personally asking for gifts.
• Experience working with Boards, volunteers and organizational leadership.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills.
• Familiarity with donor databases/CRM systems.
• The ability to work independently and thrive in a growing, entrepreneurial organization.
• A high degree of integrity, discretion and professionalism.
• A genuine passion for serving others and creating lasting human impact.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the strategy for the $1.5 million Capital Campaign.
• Cultivate and steward major donors with the Founder and Board.
• Identify and cultivate new prospects; manage major-gift pipeline.
• Develop proposals, presentations and campaign communications.
• Set campaign goals, timelines, metrics and reporting.
• Recruit donors, Board members and ambassadors to expand reach.
• Strengthen BFU's donor CRM and prospect-management processes.
• Establish tracking for prospects, donor relationships, solicitations, pledges and follow-up.
• Create an annual development plan and fundraising calendar.
• Develop strategies for major gifts, annual and recurring giving.
• Create stewardship and impact reporting communications.
• Report fundraising metrics to leadership and Board.
• Plan fundraising events and donor cultivation activities.
• Identify foundation, corporate and institutional funding opportunities and grants.
