Job summary

GAF seeks a Director of Automation and Control Systems to oversee the Automation & Controls team in support of manufacturing optimization and continuous improvement. The role partners with engineering to align with innovation initiatives and production support.

The candidate will drive capital planning input, manage budgets, and lead cross-functional collaboration with IT, R&D, and process services to ensure seamless integration of control systems across facilities.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in engineering is required.
10+ years of manufacturing experience are required.
Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
Proven leadership of a team, directly or indirectly.
Proven ability to build partnerships and relationships.
Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite, and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for facilities.
Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, and other groups to integrate Automation and Controls.
Manage capitalized projects, budgets, and financial reporting for the team.
Oversee engineering practices and application, maintain machine standards, and drive improvements.
Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
