Job summary

Capital One seeks a Director, AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead AI software development and platform strategy within the IFX team. You will oversee foundation model training, inference, and governance while driving cost-efficient, scalable AI systems for enterprise applications.

You will partner with research, compliance, and product teams to translate AI strategy into program-level execution, mentor engineers, and help attract top AI talent across multiple products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with 8+ years AI/ML experience, or Master's with 6+ years.
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products affecting associates and customers.
• Oversee AI software components: training, inference, evaluation, governance, and observability.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
• Advance foundation model optimization for performance, cost, and latency.
• Contribute to the long-term AI platform roadmap and standards.
• Foster learning culture and mentor team members.
