Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director, AI Engineer to lead the design and delivery of scalable AI systems. You will oversee end-to-end AI software components, including foundation model work, inference, and governance, guiding a cross-functional team to build responsible and high-performance AI capabilities.

You will drive cross-team collaboration, mentor engineers, and shape the long-term AI platform strategy while ensuring alignment with enterprise risk and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with 6+ years (Master's with 6+) of AI/ML experience.
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
• Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, and scalability of AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of AI platforms at Capital One.
• Attract and develop top AI talents and foster a culture of learning.
