Job summary

Abbott is seeking an Automation Technical Specialist within Core Diagnostics. This remote role, based in the United States, requires up to 100% travel to support customer implementations nationwide.

The position focuses on serving as the SME for automation hardware solutions in large clinical laboratories, leading onsite implementation activities, and coordinating with customers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful deployments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 4 years of experience supporting, servicing, troubleshooting, implementing, or maintaining automation systems or related equipment.
• Ability to travel up to 100% and maintain easy access to a major airport.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
• Experience in clinical laboratories, diagnostics, healthcare, or laboratory automation environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert for automation hardware solution implementations within large core clinical laboratories.
• Lead onsite implementation activities including equipment receipt, site readiness review, equipment placement, assembly, testing, and validation.
• Coordinate implementation projects with customers, project managers, laboratory leadership, field service teams, contractors, vendors, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Resolve complex technical inquiries and provide advanced troubleshooting throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Deliver automation product training and technical guidance to field service personnel during and after implementation.
