Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Medical Physicist to lead advanced physics services across a large health system. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining imaging technologies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing safety and quality in CT and MRI protocols, with collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, or related field required.
• PhD preferred.
• License/Certification: Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required; Board Certification by the ABR or other recognized medical physics board.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in both Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Acts as primary Radiation Safety Officer liaison to the Texas Department of State Health Services and manages CORRAM licenses.
• Develops, evaluates, and updates radiation safety policies and procedures to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Oversees equipment performance evaluations for diagnostic imaging modalities including CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, and mammography.
• Performs dosimetry calculations and shielding assessments to meet regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates acceptance testing of new imaging equipment and provides shielding recommendations.
• Supports accreditation processes with the American College of Radiology (ACR) as needed.
• Ensures compliance with radiation safety regulations and participates in RPC and RSC meetings.
• Mentors staff, supports continuing education, and fosters a culture of safety and quality.
