Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking an Edifecs DevSecOps Engineer to lead cloud migration and secure AWS implementations for VA environments. The role emphasizes CI/CD automation, multi-account AWS management, and HIPAA/GDPR/PCI DSS compliance.

Ideal candidates will design and operate scalable cloud architectures, implement encryption and IAM controls, and document security processes. Remote, 100% U.S.-based position with federal context and VIP considerations.

Qualifications

• Evidence of designing, deploying, and managing AWS infrastructure and services.
• Experience with large-scale, high-availability cloud architectures.
• Strong knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Route 53).
• Experience with AWS security services (IAM, Shield, WAF).
• Proficiency with scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell, NodeJS).
• Experience with IaC tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CodePipeline, CodeBuild).
• Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS).
• Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS in cloud architecture.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead cloud migration initiatives and governance.
• Create data flow and cloud architecture diagrams for Cloud Infrastructure, apps, and systems.
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate automation for CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage cloud permissions for each application, storage, and service.
• Implement monitoring for cloud architectures to ensure performance and compliance.
• Provide cloud support for VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) environments.
• Ensure VIP development, release, and documentation requirements in AWS GovCloud.
• Adopt DevOps mindset with CI/CD tooling knowledge.
• Develop cloud security provider documentation and guides.
• Design VAEC/cloud-hosted solutions and address readiness gaps.
