Job summary

Bixal is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable cloud infrastructure for data, analytics, and AI/ML workloads across AWS and Databricks.

You will build IaC with Terraform, maintain CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions, and collaborate with security and engineering teams to improve reliability and developer experience. Remote role in the USA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years of experience in relevant roles.
• Hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure management in enterprise environments.
• Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tooling.
• Experience administering Databricks environments and Unity Catalog.
• Strong understanding of AWS services like IAM, S3, VPC, Route 53, KMS.
• Designing secure cloud architectures with least privilege and encryption.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Strong Python and Bash scripting abilities.
• Experience supporting production data platforms and AI/ML infra.
• Knowledge of Delta Lake and data governance concepts.
• Troubleshooting across cloud, networking, identity, automation and data platforms.
• Strong communication skills; ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, deployment, and operations of cloud infrastructure supporting data platforms and AI/ML workloads.
• Build and maintain IaC using Terraform for AWS and Databricks resources.
• Develop reusable Terraform modules and automation patterns for Databricks and related components.
• Administer Databricks environments including Unity Catalog, metastore, and access controls.
• Manage Databricks platform migrations and architectural changes with minimal disruption.
• Design and implement secure AWS architectures with networking, IAM policies, and encryption.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for deployments and security checks.
• Develop automation tooling with Python, Bash, and cloud APIs.
• Support identity management patterns and automated permission management.
• Implement observability and audit logging with enterprise monitoring (e.g., Splunk).
• Design data platform integrations (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing) and data products.
• Support AI/ML platform capabilities (MLflow, AWS Bedrock, GenAI workloads).
• Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot and drive platform reliability and standards.
• Lead investigations, PoCs, and platform improvements; create runbooks and docs.
• Participate in incident response and continuous improvement efforts.
