Job summary

Bixal is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and operate CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and observability foundations using Terraform, GitLab, and Datadog. You will develop golden-path templates and automate environments for a mission-critical federal platform.

The role supports remote work anywhere in the U.S. with occasional on-site meetings in Washington, DC, and requires eligibility for a Tier 4 / High Risk Public Trust determination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 8+ years related experience.
• Hands-on experience building delivery pipelines and infrastructure automation for high-availability systems.
• Ability to improve environment stability, deployment safety, and configuration consistency.
• Experience implementing monitoring and alerting for incident response and production operations.
• Strong automation skills to eliminate recurring operational work.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate CI/CD pipelines and Terraform templates supporting the engineering platform.
• Implement and maintain observability on Datadog, including instrumentation and alerts.
• Support environment automation and gold-path delivery.
• Improve environment stability and deployment safety across agency services.
• Deliver platform improvements with measurable impact on reliability and developer productivity.
• Participate in two-week sprints, backlog refinement, and architecture reviews.
