Job summary

Abortion in America is seeking a Development Officer to join our fundraising team. This exempt, full-time remote role reports to the Director of Development and focuses on grant writing and moves management to secure funding.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of fundraising experience, superb writing, donor relations skills, and comfort engaging donors virtually across a distributed team. Compensation ranges from $115,000 to $130,000 with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience as a development professional with a proven track record of portfolio management toward meeting fundraising goals
• Excellent grant writing and reporting skills with documented foundation funding success
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to educate and engage a wide range of donors and build long‑term relationships
• Experience and comfort interacting with donors for coordination, education, and recognition, such as at events, donor meetings, and other fundraising or prospecting events
• Experience supporting major donor engagement and stewardship strategies in person at events and digitally
• Thrives in a remote working environment. Comfort building and maintaining relationships, working productively, and communicating well in a fully distributed team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently with limited administrative support while embodying an all‑hands‑on‑deck approach
• Passion for reproductive justice and the organization's mission is essential
• Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and emotional intelligence

Responsibilities

• Writing and Communications - 40%: lead grant proposals and reports
• Donor Portfolio Management - 40%: moves donors through giving life cycle and grows the donor pipeline
• Events & Administration - 20%: develop and execute in-person and digital donor events and ensure prompt donor acknowledgments
