Job summary

The American Alpine Club (AAC) is seeking a Development Director to lead and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, advancing AAC's mission. Reporting to the VP of Advancement, this role blends strategic leadership with hands-on donor stewardship while managing a two-person Development team.

This position oversees approximately $2 million in annual revenue and directs revenue streams across individual giving, corporate partnerships, and foundations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of fundraising experience with demonstrated success, including supervising staff
• Experience with major gifts and donor stewardship
• CFRE certification is a plus
• Experience in outdoor, recreation, or conservation sectors is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design and execute a comprehensive development strategy across individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundations and grants.
• Oversee development budget, revenue forecasting, dashboards and compliance reporting in partnership with Finance and Operations.
• Lead the AAC’s individual giving program and manage donor engagement, including a portfolio strategy for major gifts.
• Cultivate and steward a personal portfolio of high-value donors, targeting five- and six-figure gifts and multi-year opportunities.
• Maintain and enhance donor-facing materials and communications that reflect AAC's mission and opportunities for philanthropy.
