Job summary

The American Alpine Club (AAC) seeks a Development Director to lead and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies across individual giving, corporate partnerships, and grants. You will personally manage major donors and oversee a two-person development team, driving approximately $2 million in annual revenue and reporting to the VP of Advancement.

Ideal candidates are strategic, donor-centered fundraisers with strong planning skills and a track record across multiple giving channels.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of fundraising experience with demonstrated success and people management experience.
• Experience with major gifts and planned giving vehicles (CFRE certification a plus).
• Proven ability to design and execute a fundraising strategy and manage budgets.
• Strong donor-centered mindset, strategic planning, and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute a comprehensive development strategy aligned with AAC's priorities and revenue targets.
• Drive revenue across individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and grants—diversify fundraising streams.
• Develop, document, and refine policies and procedures to ensure clarity, efficiency, and accountability across Development.
• Build and manage the development budget; lead revenue forecasting and reporting with Finance and Operations.
• Lead the Individual Giving program and manage the donor portfolio, including five- and six-figure gifts.
• Oversee corporate partnerships and sponsorships, and coordinate with Marketing for brand visibility.
• Manage grants/foundation proposals and reports; maintain relationships with program officers.
• Maintain CRM integrity (Salesforce) for donor tracking and reporting; ensure donor communications workflows.
