Job summary

The American Alpine Club seeks a Development Director to lead and execute fundraising strategies across individual giving, planned giving, corporate partnerships, and foundations. Reporting to the VP of Advancement, the role is strategic and hands‑on — managing a donor portfolio and guiding a two‑person Development team.

The position drives about $2 million in annual revenue, strengthens donor stewardship, and expands AAC's philanthropic capacity in line with its strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressively responsible fundraising experience with success across giving channels.
• Experience supervising and coaching staff; CFRE certification a plus.
• Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and close gifts across major donor ranges.
• Ability to design and execute a development strategy with budget oversight.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute a comprehensive development strategy aligned with AAC priorities.
• Grow revenue across individual, corporate, foundation, and grants streams.
• Lead the development budget, forecasting, and dashboards with Finance.
• Manage a portfolio of major donors and steward donor relationships.
• Oversee CRM usage and cross‑functional collaboration for fundraising content.
• Support board engagement and expand philanthropic capacity.
