Job summary

United Natural Foods, Inc. is seeking a Database Engineer II to manage and optimize our database environment. You will engineer scalable, secure solutions, ensure rapid incident resolution, and develop long-term fixes under guidance from senior team members.

The role supports MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL in a large-scale environment, with emphasis on performance tuning, disaster recovery, and cloud/virtualization. Remote work options are available for this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent IT experience.
• 5+ years administering MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL or similar DBMS.
• Experience with large-scale database environments and scripting languages.
• Strong understanding of database backup, recovery and DR procedures.
• Proven ability to optimize performance and ensure availability.
• Familiarity with virtualization and cloud hosting environments.

Responsibilities

• Gather business requirements with IT and business teams.
• Administer transactional databases to ensure high availability.
• Apply solutions via upgrades, patches, backups, monitoring and configuration.
• Communicate solutions to team and management.
• Participate in enterprise infrastructure implementation and optimization.
• Promote automation and standardize build, deployment, and support processes.
• Observe change and incident management procedures.
• Travel may be required for meetings or locations.
