Job summary

Priority Commerce is hiring a Senior Database Administrator to safeguard the stability, performance, and security of our SQL Server and MySQL environments, across on‑premises and AWS. You will own day-to-day health, monitoring, and incident response while partnering with Cloud Engineering, App Development, and Product teams to support revenue-critical systems.

The role requires 7+ years of production DB experience, HA/DR expertise, and strong root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Business or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience supporting SQL Server and/or MySQL databases in production environments.
• Strong expertise in database monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting high-availability and disaster recovery configurations.
• Proficiency in analyzing database logs, execution plans, and performance metrics.
• Experience deploying and managing database objects across multiple environments.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Strong root-cause analysis, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Owns end-to-end health, reliability, and performance of database environments through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
• Reviews backups, maintenance activities, and health reports to ensure SLAs are met.
• Responds to alerts and escalations as the L3 point of contact; drives root-cause analysis.
• Leads performance tuning: query optimization, index strategy, workload configurations.
• Partners with Database Engineering to assess trends and identify risks.
• Collaborates with Cloud Engineering and App Development for scalable deployments.
• Defines and enforces database security standards with engineering and security teams.
• Deploys and manages database objects across environments.
• Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation and provides L1-L3 support.
• Contributes to resiliency and availability initiatives.
